In the previous podcasts we have spoken about the development of the service, its automation and its inclusion in the service catalog. Let’s now go to the consumption of services and pretend we are an end-user wanting to request a service for consumption. Here is where we encounter the difference between the service and service instances. The service is described by the Service Manager (see previous podcast) in the service catalog. When the user requests to use the service, a service instance is set-up for him. To set-up that instance, the automation developed in Service Fulfillment Design is used to perform the task.
In this podcast, I describe the different steps in provisioning the service and also describe the other actions that can take place, whether the service is located in the company cloud, intermediated or aggregated.
The next podcast will look at how the user gets actually consumes the service. Have a great listening.
